Dinner tonight was pizza. That sounds so pedestrian.
Never fear: I made a Californian-style pizza. Homemade sourdough crust. Homemade tomato paste with herbs from the yard. Slivered garlic, sliced mushrooms, and arugula from the farmers' market. House-cured lardo.
Simple, but elegant. The flavor mix was very good: sweet from the tomato, salt and fat from the lardo, pepper and crunch from the lightly wilted arugula, earthiness from the mushrooms.
Now I just need to learn to toss the crusts instead of rolling them...
