Our home net connections seem to gradually slow down over time. When we start noticing and getting annoyed, we've found that turning off the router for a few hours and then establishing a new connection does the trick.

It's probably about as effective as sacrificing a chicken to Legba, but it's a lot less messy.

Is your router an older model? It may be wearing out.
