Getting what you want.

Galen makes a game about running into the laundry room (which we keep as an airlock so he can't get out the back door). Well, this morning after he ran to the door I took him outside.

Did I mention that it was raining heavily?

He ran back inside and away from the door. Then sulked.

Once the "new kittens" were bold enough to have gotten over exploring the apartment, I sat just out of line-of-sight with the apartment door cracked, chatting with the neighbor across the hall... with squirt-bottle in hand. One little pink nose and whiskers got past the threshold, and I nailed it with the bottle; the neighbor was kind of aghast: "You totally set her up for that!!!"

I agreed, without a shred of guilt - I wanted outside-the-door to be a scary place...

My cats have absolute conviction that if I an be persuaded to open the Other Door, there will be no rain on that side of the house. So if I'm in the mood, I open the Other Door and prove them wrong.

But this is only convincing for the moment. Next time it rains, things might be different.
