12th Night recap of sorts
Jan. 10th, 2012 09:28 amI had a good time.
It helps that the site was only 30 minutes away (or an hour in Friday traffic). We got there later than planned Friday, but joined
aastg and others for dinner across the street from the hotel. The food was adequate but the company was, as always, stellar.
Then a line-through - of sorts, since it was improv - which went in a very bizarre direction. It ended up as Southern white trash. Good for getting giggles out, anyway. It went late enough that I barely managed to make it to
sarahbellem's vigil and give her a 30-second version of my standard vigil story. I didn't make it to Erzabeta's vigil or elevation, which I would have liked to do; but I was too tired. The wife was there at least.
Saturday was reasonably low-key. Since Their Majs bumped the play to after all the courts, I just hung around and chatted. I got to the two peerages I wanted to attend (Sarah and
thelbk) and blew off the other 17.4 hours of court. Finally they were done and we set up for the play.
There was a delay before we started - I think a camera wasn't working - and the audience started chanting "We want the play!" We joined in from backstage because we were ready too. Hey, it amused us. Overall, it went very well. No standing ovation but the audience enjoyed it and laughed at generally the right bits. I forgot a couple of my pre-planned Dottore mis-quotes, but oh well. I was told by two separate people that they didn't recognize me at all. Having a full-face mask and moving in a completely different manner will do that. Nice compliment, though!
Then it was back to the room for a Scotch tasting with
etaine_pommier and lots of others. We had 15 different kinds, I think. It was fun and I managed to not get completely schnockered. In an inversion of the universe, the wife fell asleep early and I stayed awake past midnight.

And thank you for your tasty piggy bits for my vigil. They were a huge hit! Especially the lardo. :)
