Take me out to the ballgame
Aug. 8th, 2003 08:24 amI took yesterday off and watched the Giants play the Pirates with a friend. It was a good day: sunny and in the 70s, the game was sloppy but the Giants won anyway, we were behind home plate (okay, we were also ten rows from the top, but still) and in the shade.
We got nicely marinated on garlic fries and beer. It made up for my secret parking area having been discovered and filled; after spending half an hour driving around looking, I gave up and parked about 3 minutes away from my house. Instead of a ten minute walk, it was 30 minutes. I should have walked the whole way. And if it weren’t for the 60-degree hill in between, I probably would have.
Slightly sunburned on the nose and cheeks today, but that’s my own fault for not applying sunscreen. We were in the shade the whole game, which is why the sunscreen stayed in my pack, but the walk back to the car did me in.

While futzing around in the study this morning, with the lights off, I bumped into a glass display case. Despite not hitting it that hard, it broke. Clang. Crash. Dammit.
Loads of irony here. We were storing it for Dawn’s mom, who is moving; it was supposed to be safer here, as her step-sibs had already put a couple chips in it.
Aargh.
