That's why I liked it
Dec. 20th, 2017 07:52 amThis week's Resolution Recipe: Scotch for Breakfast.
Trish pointed out that it's basically a bastardized Blood & Sand, which sounds about right.
1.5 oz blended Scotch
0.25 oz single-malt Scotch
0.5 oz vermouth
0.5 oz Cherry Heering
0.5 oz lemon juice
1 tsp orange marmalade
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain and serve in a coupe, garnished with a burnt orange peel.
What worked: This was delicious and I had to forcibly restrain myself from making and drinking a second right away.
What didn't: I used house-made blood orange marmalade; because it has chunks of peel in it, as $deity intended, it didn't blend in as well as a smooth marmalade and stayed in the shaker when I strained it out. So I'm not sure how much it really added.
Will I make it again? It's going into the cocktail recipe book, yes.
