This week's Resolution Recipe: Stir-Fried Kohlrabi.
3 kohlrabi, peeled
3 medium carrots
4 Tbsp peanut oil
3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced (Ha! I used... more.)
1" ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
3 green onions, sliced (I used green garlic)
1 fresh chili pepper, seeded and sliced
salt
3 tsp soy sauce
Slice kohlrabi and carrots into thin ovals. Heat oil in a large heavy skillet; when it begins to smoke, toss in garlic and ginger. Stir once then add root veg. Toss and cook 2 minutes. Add green onion and chili; stir fry 1 minute, then pour in 1/2 cup water. Cover, reduce heat, and cook for 5 minutes. Remove cover and toss in the soy sauce. Serve over rice.
What worked: I liked it quite a bit. It was fairly quick and easy to prepare. I'd call it the best kohlrabi recipe I've done since we started getting it in our CSA box.
What didn't: The jalapeno I used was unexpectedly spicy. It was a bit too spicy for the wife. I'd probably replace it with Sriracha so we can control the heat level.
Will I make it again? I won't buy kohlrabi for it, but I'd be inclined to make this when I get it.
