State of the Boy
May. 31st, 2018 08:24 amHe's still way underweight. We're giving him a steroid pill every day, which is supposed to help thin his 5x-too-thick intestinal wall that is apparently the culprit behind his weight loss. (Thick wall = nutrients don't get absorbed.) We're also giving him a weekly B12 vitamin shot.
Overall he seems okay. He's 15, so he's never going to be really perky. At most we get a few skitters or a 10-second play before he goes quieter. But since the emergency room debacle, he's been throwing up minimally - and most of those are hairballs.
The biggest thing for him has been the heating pad we purchased and put in his window bed. It's already a space he sleeps in, but with keeping the pad on most of the time that's where he is sleeping most of the time. Finally we found a heat source he likes. Galen is the only cat I've ever known who actively dislikes heater vents...
