I happened to get one of the new BART cars this morning. They're nice: still clean, electronic route displays, automated station announcements you can actually hear, etc.

It's a shame they'll all smell like bodily waste in six months.

My rookie mistake today was taking the elevator at the Caltrain station instead of climbing the stairs. In my defense, it was three flights of stairs and my sandals were starting to blister my feet, but the elevator reeked of urine and was unbearably slow.
