I started a book yesterday. It's the final book of a trilogy, so I'm curious to see how things turn out.

I get 35 pages in... and the sentence is cut off by a new chapter that makes no sense. Huh? Look blankly for a bit, eventually figure out that the page number is 424 instead of 36. Ah, I see - the printer screwed up that quire (he says, showing off the bookbinding knowledge gleaned from the wife). Okay, flip to page 424 to continue reading from the mixed-up page 36.

It's also page 424. They've killed 40 pages of this book. And I got it from the library, so I can't even march back to the bookstore for an exchange. Guess I'll have to wait four to six months for the library bureaucracy to get a new one.

Aaargh!

What I'm reading: Nothing. Didn't you read the post above? Sheesh.

What book?

I might have a copy to loan. Never can tell.

Trudi Canavan, The High Lord. Basic fantasy but decent. I wouldn't buy it - but that's what libraries are for.

It does not sound familiar, but I'll check. I received four large bags of books not too long ago. It might be there.

Boy, that really sucks. Blech. I don't think I've seen a printer screwup that bad ...

What, there's only one book in your house you haven't read yet? You slacker. Rush out and buy more now.
