Bonus Lockdown Takeout Review: Hop Oast.
This is a very small neighborhood brewery nearby. The guy has three tanks and keeps about 8-10 of his beers on tap. He says they never closed and always had takeout available, but I tried a few weeks back and they were closed all weekend. Whatever, not worth arguing.
What worked: I've been there a few times before and always liked their ESB (which is my jam, and hard to find). He didn't have any English-style beers brewed so I got 32 oz of their amber ale to go (which I had also tried before). It's solid. I don't mean to be condescending to say that it's eminently drinkable.
Rather than buying a branded growler, I took a 32 oz mason jar for $2. I can re-use that.
What didn't: It took quite a long time for him to be done with the customer he was serving - so long that the guy before me left. I thought about it but stuck it out.
Will I visit again? Probably, although not for takeout after this is over. I don't usually drink 32 oz of beer in a few days.
