Last Week's Lockdown Takeout Review, which we got Friday and I never got around to posting over the weekend: La Ciccia.
This is a Sardinian restaurant run by a husband-and-wife team. He runs the kitchen; she is front of the house. We've been going there sporadically since we moved to SF, including a number of birthdays and anniversaries. It's a good small restaurant with a lot of local regulars. Their spicy octopus tomato stew and squid ink pasta are standout specialties.
What worked: We got the aforementioned specialties. The octopus stew was fabulous as always. The squid ink pasta rotates both the pasta and the seafood involved; this batch was small noodles and even smaller rings of squid. Good but not the best version of it we've had from them. We also got a tub of mushroom sugo for the freezer, which I look forward to using over pasta for a number of future meals.
Ordering and pickup was easy.
What didn't: Their quality is high, but they are on the pricier side for takeout. I don't begrudge them that but it is part of why we hadn't gone to them during the lockout before. (Since we're basically stopping the weekly takeouts, this seemed like a good way to end it.)
Will we visit again? That's the plan.
