I drink my coffee strong. Thick. Unadulterated. I like the taste of coffee, dammit, and the caffeine is a needed side-effect. But even if I didn't work East Coast hours on a Left Coast sleep schedule, I'd still drink coffee.

Unfortunately, I work in an industrial park, so there's nowhere to get coffee outside the building.
Fortunately, we've badgered the higher-ups to buy decent beans.
Unfortunately, the coffee machine in our breakroom jammed up this week.
Fortunately, there's another breakroom with a working machine nearby.
Unfortunately, they drink crayon-style coffee.

I can't wait for our machine to get fixed. I probably should make sure that someone has called it in...

("Crayon-style coffee": there's a Peanuts cartoon from way back [waaay back, when it was actually funny] where Linus makes Lucy a cup of hot chocolate. She makes a face and says "This tastes like a cup of hot water with a brown crayon soaked in it!"
Linus responds "Really? I'll go add another crayon.")

Bring your own beans to the working coffee machine down the hall and return with the pot and just use the burner on your machine?

Unfortunately, no. They got all twitchy about people leaving glass pots on the warmers to burn, so now we have a machine that grinds-and-brews into essentially, a large thermos.

It's the grinder that's busted, so the whole good machine is unusable. And the working one is set to crayon-coffee amounts.

Yes, it's adjustable. But the people who would adjust it for our benefit are the same ones who would fix the busted one, and they're out this week.

Sometimes we're just too smart for our own good. There are individual cup drip systems. All they need is hot water. Are they allowing you that?
