This week's bonus Resolution Recipe made for Valentine's Day: Brownies.
Haven't I made these before? Yes, but I haven't made this recipe before.
1/2 cup white sugar
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
2 Tbsp water
12 oz chocolate chips, divided
2 eggses
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
no walnuts (Ha! I used... more. Actually 1 cup.)
Heat the oven to 325 and spray an 8x8" baking dish. In a medium pan, heat the sugar, butter, and water over medium heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips. Stir until melted. Add the eggses and vanilla; mix to combine. In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients and then add into the chocolate mix. Stir to combine. Add the remaining chocolate chips and walnuts and stir to combine. Pour into pan and bake 25 minutes. Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
What worked: It was easy. Brownies should have walnuts so adding those in completed the recipe for us.
What didn't: I didn't get the water mixture up to a full rolling boil, and the chocolate seized up a bit. It didn't melt completely, but since I was adding in more chips I didn't worry about it.
Will I make it again? Actually, this might become my go-to for brownies rather than any of the other ones I have in recipe books. We both liked it quite a bit.
