madbakerLast night (well, early this AM) Miss Beatrice was flopped beside me and I was idly petting her. Then I heard scratching from the litterbox down the hall.
I realized the obvious explanation: that we had not one, but two identical-looking cats, both living here and pretending to only be one cat by only one showing up at a time. Kind of like Trish's imposter cat and Shadow, except both at the same time. That explained why Miss Bea would suddenly go from quiet to noisy, or sleepy to playful. And why she would scream for food.
I named the other cat Ceatrice, or Mr. Cee for short. When asked if that was short for "cockatrice" (pronounced cock-a-triss), I said "Sure." But it was really more of a dad joke playing off Miss Bea.
Brains and dreams are weird.
