I am seriously considering a step I really didn't want to take: getting a second streaming service.
I hate hate hate duplicating what we're paying for and it feels like a scam/waste. But... we have Netflix. We dropped their DVD service because they haven't bought new DVDs in five-plus years and we ran out. Now we're running out of streaming things to watch. We've tried a number of new series, but most of them we've stopped after an episode or two. There just isn't much in the queue.

I'm looking at Acorn, because there are a lot of British series that we haven't been able to get even on PBS. That would probably give us a year with Netflix as a supplement.

Netflix's DVDs do update, but usually by that time, they've started streaming the movie/series, too. I've got The Gilded Age gathering dust atop the DVD player.

I'm considering Disney Plus. I'd like to see the Yoda and another SW series. When someone told me they bundled Disney with the National Geographic channel, my interest increased to almost, maybe, perhaps.

We watch a lot of foreign series on Netflix. Right now, we're watching The Dark.

so, i know this isn't the most ethical workaround, but i also don't feel bad about not giving more money to giant corporations, so i'll just state the obvious... you could always just share logins, or sign up temporarily :) like if there's a specific show you want to watch on a streamer you don't subscribe to, you could wait until all the episodes are out, sign up for one month, watch it all, and then cancel your subscription. a lot of streamers also come with free trials. and although password-sharing is frowned upon, it's still what everyone does. hypothetically, you could agree to give a friend your acorn login and they could give you their login to another streaming service, and then you both get to watch two channels for the price of one.
