I posted about Friday being a good day. Murphy loves that kind of talk.
See, we had reservations at a nice restaurant at 6:45 on Union Square for my belated birthday. I phoned in a cab order for 6:30. It doesn't take more than 10 minutes to get there and phoned-in cab orders usually show up early.
Usually.
6:30 arrives... 6:35... 6:45... I tried calling the cab company (as well as some others) but they were all busy. Hmmph.
Okay, after waiting 25 minutes we decided, screw it, we'll go find another cab. There are usually cabs trolling by the hospital nearby.
Nope.
Not on the vaguely main-ish drag, either.
We walked around for an hour. In our dress-up clothes. My hip was killing me by this point, after my Muir Woods morning hike. We had literally just given up when we saw a cab pulling into the corner gas station.
"Quick! Grab it! Sure, fill it up first. We're not moving from this cab until you drop us off at the restaurant!"
We got there over an hour late, but the restaurant was graciously able to seat us anyway. Dinner was absolutely lovely. I'm achy this AM from all the walking, but at least we finally got there.
