Galen was a serious pill last night. Excuse me, this morning.

Running back and forth, knocking things off the table, making a serious amount of noise and hassle. I think he wanted the wife to get up and play with him. This "sleep during the day, play at night" thing is really getting old.

We locked him in the bathroom at one point. He opened the door and let himself out.
(Note: this involved simultaneously pulling down the door lever while pulling the door open - it's a new trick. Damn smart cat.)

I got to bed late and didn't fall asleep easily, so I got... maybe three hours of sleep. Three cups of coffee and counting, just to get semi-functional.

*nods* Been there.

Actually, last night while I tried to get to sleep (fortunately, himself took the B5 into the living room) Anne decided to crawl under the covers. From the feet. I felt soft warm things tickling my feet, wiggling around, finally settling into a ball. Good thing she was warm, as she uncovered one foot completely in the process.

Might want to try playing with Galen incessantly about an hour after you get home. Get him all wound up well before you have to go to bed, so by then he will have calmed down.

Mind you, he will mellow out with age.

That's the truly annoying thing about all this. The wife generally plays with him for several hours after I go to bed - until Galen has started to doze.

Then she turns off the lights, and he gets a second (third, fourth...) wind.

How old is he? They do calm down with age. By the time he's seven, he'll be downright sedentary.

He's coming up on two years. I just don't think we can handle this level of nocturnal activity for the next five - especially with my working East Coast hours. And when the wife gets a job, she won't be able to stay up until midnight playing with the cat either.

Oh. Terrible Two's. No sweat. He'll get over it.
