The wife and I have been fighting off a case of the cruds (the fuzzy upstairs neighbor had them last week). I haven't been able to take any time off work, so it's been "get home from work, lie blotto, make some token effort at dinner, go to bed early". Lather, rinse, repeat. Unfortunately that meant we had to miss a "Dress to Excess" dance party some friends threw.

"What’s excess? The original theme of this party was to be 'What's expensive and wadded in the back of your closet? Wear it again at the Wedding Attire Dance!' only some of our friends have managed to evade marriage, eloped or wouldn't be caught dead in the dress so fabulously fashionable in 1972. So wear your favorite big dress from your coronation, graduation, bridal party participation, civil war fixation, our ancestresses' emancipation or your New Years Eve-ation. If a dress is not your style, consider this the Big Pants Dance: zoot suits, morning coats, kilts, Incroyables, spatter-dashers, pluderhosen, your suit of lights, an ice cream suit or military dress."

I'm sure it was immensely fun. Blah. I dozed, read, pet the cat, and did some cooking instead. I think we'll do much the same today.

Yeah, I had to give it a miss, too, being Miss Scholastica this weekend. Much due on Monday, dontcha know. *sigh* Back to the books!

I heard it was very nice. I had to miss it, too. During the day I was staffing at the gallery and in the evening I was at (Duke) Paul and Woody (Baron Fredrik)'s birthday party. One of the attendees of the party had been to the ball and gave a quick report.
