Do you have the time
To listen to me whine?
About nothing and everything
All at once
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it
I may take a break from posting, except for Resolution Recipes. I haven't felt particularly inspired lately, and it feels like all I do is grump and whinge. I dislike self-indulgent whining in others - so I'm going to attempt to force myself to stop. I'm feeling slightly sick with a sore throat and achy sinuses, but honestly, nothing bad is going on in my life right now.

A couple weeks ago I got a good-sized 2004 performance bonus, and the accountant just called to tell me the taxes are done. We're getting a refund.
I still want a pony, metaphorically speaking. But I'm being a responsible adult - damn it - and setting it aside to help with a new car. Which I suppose will be fun, when we get it, but I'm not getting a Roadster or anything sexy, so it still won't feel like a toy.

Although thanks to the Upstairs Neighbors, the wife is going to order a Stickley bookcase. (It's 35% off! Which only makes it... cough.) That's the only semi-frivolous use of the money. It will look nice as well as being exceedingly good quality, but the wife will appreciate it more on its esthetics than I will. I'm not saying I won’t like it, just that it will mean more to her than me, even though my cookbooks are going in it...

Go ahead and whine; it's your journal. Besides, it's nice to know that, behind that angelic face, there beats the heart of a true curmudgeon.

Still hope to see you next month.

I haven't felt you were whinging, but what's important is, of course, how YOU feel about your posts. So...I'll miss your commentary, but look forward to the yummy recipes!

I understand...

...I'm not very big on self-pity/whining myself. I used to do it a LOT and now I seem to have conditioned myself into mostly NOT and try not to share when I don't have something positive to say.

But still, you have good things to say, and anytime you can provoke thoughtful commentary is a good time to say something.

You were whining?

Being an adult isn't as fun as we thought it would be when we were kids. :/

Please don't stop posting, even if you are, as you say, whinging. Only idiots have to be happy all the time.

I got the absolute best performance review I've ever had in my life -- but no raise. The joys of startups.
