There is a technological solution to this frustration. Some person makes an alarm for parents who forget they've left their kids in the car; you put one part of the device on the kid, and the other is on your keychain, or something. If you get more than X feet from the kid, it sounds off.

So you just need to attach the thing to your coffee mug.
