I just made a gratuitous Gilda Radner reference. We'd had a meeting scheduled last-minute, then it was re-scheduled, then re-re-scheduled for the original time, then finally cancelled. All with a flurry of e-mails.

So, quoting Gilda, I responded "Never mind."

The response from the late-20-something was "Who?"

"Mrs. Who?"
"No, man, you're totally confused. Johnny Depp is playing Willy Wonka."

I a) Know who Gene Wilder is. (Though I was surprised to learn recently that he is alive. I coulda sworn he died tragically early from something really weird.) b) Don't actually like the look of the new Willy Wonka. I'll have to see it to make sure, but the preview leaves me pretty cold.

But he looks so much *more* like the Willy Wonka from the *book*!
(Looking forward to a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that's a little more like Roald Dahl wrote it....*darker*.

Yes, but Christopher Walken would have been much more sinister than Johnny Depp. And I liked the original, cheesy songs and all.

As did I. But I still liked the book better.
Have you seen the production stills for this one, yet? Very cool!

Y'know....my guess is that the late-20-somethings in your office probably wouldn't get half of the things you might find interesting to quote that are *contemporary*, given that they are probably all more...corporate...than you are to begin with. That's not *age*, that's *culture*.

Proper responce to his "Who?" comment is "No, The Who are a band. Gilda was a Comedian"

Let him stew on it for a while......hehehehe.

*sigh*

I had to explain "wa" to MinionMolly (a.k.a. Lit Clerk Barbie). She informed me that it was too early in the morning to speak gibberish.

Is it ever too early to speak gibberish?

On the plus side, that means you can now quote lots of funny material that they will have never heard before! (I'm assuming the problem here is lack of exposure, not lack of sense of humor). Then again, "What's all this about wanting to protect Endangered Feces?" may not be appropriate for the office...

"Conserving our nation's racehorses?"

"What's all this about President Ford wanting to make Puerto Rico a steak? How do we know these people even like meat?"
