Take Two (they're small)
Jun. 23rd, 2005 07:28 amI had a longish entry almost-all typed in, but then I accidentally closed the tab. Aargh!
I'm working from home today. Partly because I'm supposed to occasionally, to test our disaster recovery plan. Mostly because many of us in the department are going to the Giants game today. I'm a half-hour walk from the park; it doesn't make sense to drive down to work, drive back, and then go to the game.
Plus, I can get away with it once in a while.
Ironically, I'd almost prefer not to go today. I have lots of packing to do for this weekend, and this is the first time loading the new vehicle. I threw away the *#*%# Saturn car rack yesterday, and as I was doing so it fell apart. Which I would have discovered today, while trying to put it on (and too late to really replace it). So that's a good thing about the Highlander.
BTW, I liked "Babe" best from the names submitted, but I haven't really been able to force myself to use it. I just generally don't name my vehicles.
Back to work now.

Date: 2005-06-23 05:14 pm (UTC)I carefully looked at the dimensions and its only really an inch or so wider than a suburu forester or my corolla, and a bit longer. (still shorter than my old SR5 pickup ;)) but I've gotten used to my little zippy corollar :)
and you decided to go for the regular one? not the hybrid? (which arent even available up here yet)

Date: 2005-06-23 06:26 pm (UTC)but then I looked and saw that the gasoline highlander has HALF the emissions that a suburu forester does. in spite of being more a gas hog.
its one of those things where your tree hugger philosophies start wrasslin' with the pocketbook....
(plus the fact the hybrid cant tow, and is not recommended for offroad (ie roads in and out of sites? my friends Prius tends to get VERY unhappy on bumpy roads. yes, the hybrid Highlander comes in 4WD but you're not supposed to take it offroad. hah!) and its harder to find someone to fix it if you should break down, oh, say, on the way to Sept Crown in Spokane, or heaven forbid on the way to Estrella....)
but its so COOL!!!!! ;)
