Bonus points for correctly citing the movie quote.

The next-door neighbors spotted a couple of people milling around the back of the Highlander last night - they chased them off and then rang our bell, since they are Nice People and know it lives at our place. I had dumped my commedia bag in the back, so we figured they were trying to jimmy the door open to steal the bag.

Nope. They wanted the blank license plate frame.
So badly that they came back later, and unbolted the whole thing from the car.

I don't understand. While I am pleased that they (apparently) did no damage, I can't understand the appeal of a dealer-issued license plate frame and a piece of paper where the plate would be (if they had arrived yet).

Do they think that they can install this on their tricked-out Camry and pretend that it's a new car, thus avoiding registration fees? They didn't take the front one!

I just... don't get it.
Maybe I do need the I Aggro Drama T-shirt.

Well, that's certainly different. And at least they break any windows or anything.

Weird. I could understand them trying to steal the registration (this happened to my trainer :-( ), but the license frame???

Oh, and I don't get the "I Aggro Drama" joke. ???

At least I'm not the only one who's out of touch with some of these things. <g>

"Aggro" is a slang term from Britain. In the US it is mainly used in Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Games. It's a derivation of 'aggravate,' and what it means is you have attracted the attention of NPC enemys/villains/monsters, who are going to run over and try to eat your head. An important skill in these types of games is managing the aggro you accumulate -- getting just enough of those enemies coming over to eat your head while not getting too many head-eaters coming at you at once.

The tee shirt implies that I attract the attention of drama randomly, and it runs over and comes to try and eat my head.

What a weird term ... those Brits, it's almost like they speak a different language than we do. So similar, but not quite the same. Strange ... (thanks for 'splaining ...)

Peculiar indeed.

I would think that at first glance, someone would see that and not immediately check for a license plate, thereby giving them a few hours/days of grace for a car or something.

It is also a common practice to display your whip with a frame and paper, giving it that 'oh so new showroom' look.

still *stoooopid*, tho.

With a new car, isn't there a sticker that has to be displayed rather prominently in the window or lower part of the windshield or something to show that it is registered? I haven't bought a car in some time now, but ...

*nod*, but if you see that plate, and you don't automatically find it, you might not look for the other, unless you have a reason...

Hmm. Okay. I can see that, with everything going on, it's not too likely the police would be looking for all the details unless they had a reason to.

Don't remember that line. I do own the movie and have watched it several times.

The line is used several times, most often in regards to gum jamming the mini-mart's shutters closed.

Ah, early in the movie, okay. There's so much going on in that one, that particular line didn't stick in my head.

...Probably makes your stolen car less immediately obvious, though, or the ocar that you use in that robbery getaway....
