According to CA state Senator Tom McClintock (Thousand Oaks), I'm not married:
"The reason marriage is fundamentally different from a civil contract is that marriage is formed for a fundamental purpose - that is, to bring a new life into the world."

Marriage is for personal partnership not baby-making.
It is amazing what comes out of these politician's mouths.

So.... is this a *good* thing, or a *bad* thing?

Married or not, having kids in one's life really *is* a thoroughly rewarding experience.

( Still basking in the 'new-dad, again' glow, I am...)

Marriage is a *good* thing.

I heartily object to being told that my marriage isn't valid because we don't plan to procreate.

"It is better to marry than to burn" -- I think that was St. Paul.

Did it work??????

(Statistics show that 40% of all American couples, hetero or homosexual, report a 50-60% drop in sexual activity within 4 years of marriage.... NIH report, 2004...)

Logical conclusions

I think couples who want to get married shouldn't be allowed to unless they bring their babies with them, then. Anyone who can't prove progenability (is that a word?) will have their marriages annulled immediately.
