We spent yesterday in Palo Alto at the Stanford Theatre - saw a double feature of The African Queen and Beat the Devil, a lesser-known Huston film starring Bogart. The upstairs neighbor describes it as a "film noir, crime, screwball comedy" which is about right. A bit hard to follow, because of the different accents (Italian, Arabic, Peter Lorre) and the old print.
It's almost always enjoyable to sit up in the balcony and watch old films.

Worse than marijuana, huh? I dunno, all the films from that era (1963) clearly show that one puff of Mary Jane turns you into a crazed serial killer.
