Politics and Poker
Oct. 4th, 2003 05:11 pmMy wife and I were walking through the Mission (heavily Hispanic area of San Francisco) earlier today. We happened to wander through as Cruz Bustamante, the CA Lieutenant Governor, was pressing the flesh and rallying the faithful before Tuesday's recall vote.
I was vastly amused. First, it's the closest I've ever gotten to a politician of that stature. (Level, I mean - let's not get into his height or lack thereof.) Second, I don't exactly fit his core voter demographic. In a whole bunch of senses, pick your poison.
My wife and I giggled at each other and kept walking.
Oh. The header? It comes from a Smothers Brothers song:
"Politics and poker, politics and poker
Play your cards and find the joker..."
