This is getting to be a habit.

Not the newspaper this time, but my tupperware of cereal. Which I had taken home to refill, left out on the table so I would remember it, and... left out on the table.

So no breakfast for me. (sigh)

In other aaargh news, I went to Dittmer's yesterday - they're a German deli/sausage/meat shop in Mtn. View. Really good bacon, among many other things. Anyway: I bought 2 lbs of ground chicken, with the idea of making sausages from the chicken, purple basil, onion, maybe a bit of cream...

Until I got home, and found that they had given me ground chuck.

After some ranting and hair-pulling, I decided to make beef/basil sausages anyway. I'll find out if they are any good tonight.

This type of mis-order has happened there before; but not regularly enough that I remember to check the bleeding package before I step out the store door.

AAARGH!

Dinner last night was a salad, made with lettuce from our garden, tomatoes (the fruits)*** from our garden, carrots and cucumbers from the farmers’ market.

We also harvested corn. The ears were small, about half-normal length; and I think they were a bit over-ripe. We didn’t know how to tell when they were ready, so they got left on the stalks too long. Still pretty good though!

* (and vegetables)

** (Garden, that is)

*** Botanically, the tomato is a fruit. Legally in the U.S., however, it is a vegetable – thanks to a 19th century Supreme Court case. Over tariffs, I think.
