Our NYGMT party (New Year's, Greenwich Mean Time - pop corks at 4 PM Pacific) went well. Laid-back, low-key schmoozing with plenty of fud and drinkage.

People drifted in and out, which was part of the point. We got to see folks who had other, more traditionally-timed parties to attend.

It wound down around 10... later than I normally go to bed, of course, but that's the other reason we have the New Year's celebration early.

It's a good thing I'm not a Dukes of Hazzard fan. Otherwise, the latest Lore Brand Comic would forever change how I think about it.

So I'm in the garage pulling out a wooden box full of feast gear, and the precariously-balanced tourney lumber tips over. No harm, no foul - but as I turn around to check its falling, the feastgear box falls off the shelf.

Hitting the concrete floor, and I hear the distinctive sound of pottery smashing.

Now, nothing that broke is irreplaceable - and one plate even survived - we had traded out of our handmade plates for just such an eventuality. We can buy replacement plates and goblets at Biordi in SF (an evil place, if you haven't been there) although it's more expensive than I'd like.

Not what I needed while packing up for Twelfth Night though!

F*ck!
