L'esprit de l'escalier
Oct. 11th, 2004 09:31 amFor those who don't speak Fronch, that literally means "the spirit of the staircase". It's an expression for when you think of the perfect comeback... two hours later.
Galen leapt up on the bed Sunday morning about 5:30 AM and, as usual, started grooming my chin. The wife woke up and consoled me with "You know, before he started washing you, he was licking his balls."
Gee, thanks a lot for that image.
Several hours later, I came up with "He's neutered! He doesn't have any balls!"
Sigh.
