Nov. 19th, 2004 12:54 pmThe potluck was quite good, overall. Despite a cow-orker's kvetching that he spent $50 on pizza. Dude, then don't buy pizza! Quite a bit of variety in the homemade things I tried - Carolina pulled pork barbecue, curried potatoes, Filipino-style cashews, baklava...
About 2/3 of the pecan pie is left. I did get some compliments from a few cow-orkers. The pie took much longer to set than it should have, so the crust was a bit crispier than I would have liked. Oh well; I'll have to improve by next week. The filling came about just about perfect for my taste, though. Not too dry and not too sweet.
(slight sigh) I don't feel snubbed the way I did last year, but I don't feel fulfilled either. I guess that's about all I can realistically hope for.
Edited to add: vultures came back later, so about 2/3 of the pie is gone now. That makes me feel better.
