Quiet, but nice long weekend

I had Friday off - the markets were oh-so-graciously closed for Xmas Eve. Back to work tomorrow for the full week though.

My dad stayed with us until this AM. He lives about seven hours' drive away, so we don't get to see him very often. It was a good visit. Mostly, we watched all three LOTR extended editions. Other than my falling asleep in the last DVD, it was good.

The wife was very pleased with her present (Titian to 1518) - that's her favorite painter. Score one for me! She gave me a meat grinder attachment for the Kitchenaid. It's something I've been wanting, so ditto for her.

The upstairs neighbors gave us The Cartoon History of the Universe III which looks very silly and I'm looking forward to reading it.

I could justify having bought this by saying it's a present to myself (it's only a print, so it's affordable), but really I just flat-out wanted this as soon as I saw it. After I recovered from falling out of my chair laughing, that is. See for yourself...

I think I'll go have another cup of tea.
