While we were in Calistoga, we had pretty good sushi at a husband-and-wife joint across the street from the spa. Also, we went to Tra Vigne in St. Helena.

I was - not disappointed, but not enchanted either. The food was good. Not lights-out, but good rustic Italian. The atmosphere was a bit more casual than I was expecting, but the staff were friendly and professional. The wife's venison was very nice; my pork tenderloin wrapped in grape leaves was acceptable.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to return, but that's more because of the wide variety of very good restaurants in the area. I'd try them before going back.

ISBNs (International Standard Book Number, for those bibliophobes out there…) are going from ten digits to thirteen as of January 1, 2007. Any books I buy next year will be in the new format; books published now have both.

I'm curious what people think: should I convert all my ISBNs to the new format?

Congratulations, you California voters who turned down Proposition 77. Sure, it wasn't perfect - but it was far better than the current system.
Legislators promised that if voters rejected it, they would pass redistricting reform this year.

Guess what? They lied. The Senate passed a bill, but made sure that it didn't get to the Assembly in time for a vote.
So we're still stuck with a system where politicians gerrymander districts to ensure their re-election.

And you wonder why voters are cynical and don't vote?

Congratulations.
