I had an anxiety dream early this morning. We were at a combination of Twelfth Night and [livejournal.com profile] semyofpearls and [livejournal.com profile] shadowwalkyr's wedding, which for some reason was being held in a meadow. I'd forgotten to bring the beer tap for the keg. As I was running around trying to find a substitute (which is difficult in a grassy meadow) I lamented that I forgot the tap because it wasn't on my packing list.

So when I awoke panting from the dream, I checked our packing list. The tap wasn't on it.
It is now.

For anyone still reading this showing up to TweltfthNightCon, we're at the Quickie-Mart: room 711.

Yes, I took the work laptop "just in case there's an emergency." Really.

On the way out of town, the wife and I stopped by Piccino, a breakfast/lunch cafe just over the hill from us. The people who run it made pizza at Pizzetta 211 - very good California-style pizza, but on the other side of town.

The cafe was full (not that it's large, but it's still a good sign). We placed our order and sat at the only free table, outside. While we waited, the kitchen sent out a complementary plate of roasted garbanzos and potatoes "because you're sitting outside in the cold". Yummy. We ordered the special, winter greens and pancetta. No tomato sauce. It was quite good.

I was trying to help by returning our plate, but I dropped it just inside the door. It shattered, miraculously avoiding spraying the guy sitting there with olive oil. I was embarrassed. Despite that, we'd still go back.

meh.

The wife and I went to 1505 for dinner. Mainly because we wanted to have a bit of private time outside the hotel, and this got decent reviews and looked interesting.

Well, one out of three. The atmosphere was painfully hipster (the hostess had two nose studs) and with the room 75% empty, it didn't work. The food was okay; the wife enjoyed her filet mignon. My chef's special of beef stroganoff, however... I counted three pieces of beef in the plate of pasta. The flavor was tasty, but "pasta stroganoff" doesn't have the same appeal. At least they comped my glass of wine in apology.

Would I go back? No, even if I lived close to Modesto.
