The eyes have it
Apr. 28th, 2009 08:36 amI went in for an eye exam yesterday. It was actually my first in about two and a half years - I didn't maintain eye coverage last year on my own dime as it's freakin' expensive, and I was just about to have an exam when I got laid off. So, yeah. I found a local guy on the plan in SoMa.
It's a very trendy industrial place: concrete floors, visible ducts, techno music. Not really my style. But the guy seemed competent, which is the crucial thing.
My main comment going in was that my right eye seems to have weakened dramatically. And the test showed... that yes, this is true. In fact my right eye is not legal driving vision!
I had glasses most of my life until getting my eyes burned nine years ago. I'm not thrilled with the idea of going back (even to light lenses). I spent much of yesterday in denial. What I will probably do: get an updated pair of driving glasses and prescription sunglasses for the car. That way I can be safe & legal while driving. Then maybe next year when my benefits roll around I'll look at full-time glasses.
Aargh.
