Very nice "We had to drop out from Erinwood" dinner last night with [livejournal.com profile] etaine_pommier and [livejournal.com profile] dave_orphal. House-cured sardines and a lovely cucumber gazpacho E made, with prosecco. Then hanger steaks and corn, both from the farmer's market that morning. House-made apricot ice cream and port to finish. And lovely chattage and hanging out.

With our generally overbooked calendars, it's nice to take some time out for non-SCA socializing occasionally.

Saturday I went with the upstairs neighbors to our local food bookstore to hear Ken Albala and his co-author Rosanna Nafziger speak about their book. Some months back I sent Ken a link to my charcuterie Google Doc - I figured he'd enjoy the compendium. When I introduced myself (and handed him a smoked sausage that he helped inspire) his response was "Oh, the historic sausage guy!"

I was pleased. And amused, but mostly pleased.
