Feb. 4th, 2020 07:00 amI am pretty sure the boy is losing weight again. He looks very skinny. We try to give him all the food he will eat, but he's just not food-motivated. (Except... certain smells have clicked in his walnut brain. Salmon. Chicken or turkey. He will loudly demand his share when we cook those. But that's usually only a couple bites and then he's done.)
Galen turns 17 in April, and has had kidney/digestive problems much of his life. When he had the UTI, he lost some kidney function. We don't want to put him through a vet stay again, so we're just trying to keep him comfortable and happy. He's still active enough to jump up to the bed, so our "is he still breathing?" checks when he's sleeping are mostly in fun. Mostly.
An upside of it being so cold the last couple nights is that he's been sleeping on the bed with us. A downside is that when the wife stole the covers, I couldn't pull them back because the cat was between us - and I couldn't disturb him. I'm not a monster.
