The wife and I went to see Wallace and Gromit yesterday. It was fun. We caught an afternoon matinee, meaning that there were maybe a dozen people in the theater. Unfortunately, one of those was a crying child.

Still, it was worth seeing. Bits lagged, and the overall plot wasn't as taut as, say, Wrong Trousers. Although comparing a 90-minute film to a 15-minute short isn't really fair.

We'll probably buy the DVD, if only to freeze-frame to look at the background jokes.

Yup, we got out last night to see it. I thought it was wonderful, if not quite as wonderful at TWT. And there didn't seem to be quite as many background jokes as I'd hoped -- after reading [livejournal.com profile] aimeric's post, I was actively watching for them.

From what I've read, it unfortunately doesn't seem like we missed much. There was a song from Watership Down at one point, apparently, but I've never seen the movie (nor read the book, which surprised the hell out of [livejournal.com profile] wufmew).

I really enjoyed the 'snoopy and the red baron' bit, and there are some funny things in the background, some of which you can catch on the trailer downloads.

I was very amused.

I think I probably saw the "24 Carrot Gold" joke coming from about a mile and half away, but then that's about how far away we live from the theater too, so that might explain it. *smile*

I was really impressed with how much impact the music had to the whole thing though. That grand sounding stuff makes everything seem more exciting!
