One of my cow-orkers, smelling my minestrone soup heating in the microwave, asked what brand it was.
"Chez
madbaker", I replied (using my name, though).
Bonus points for correctly identifying the header reference - the one that also uses "I really like vanilla."

Date: 2005-11-01 09:22 pm (UTC)I should've pulled out the Far Side Halloween TV Special on Sat. I've got to burn that on DVD one of these days, since the tape is getting worn, and I don't think it's ever been rebroadcast.
(other odd Far Side reference...a mid 90's episode of Disney's Duck Tales, entitled, "The Mystery of Twin Beaks." Weird plot involving Launchpad attempting to become a psychic, proclaiming, 'The Cows Are Not What They Seem!' Everyone scoffs at him, util one stands up and says, "Greeting, Earth Duck!" "A talking animal?" responds the duck, totally missing the irony. "That's impossible!" The cow responds with, "I am from the planet Larson, on the Far Side of the galaxy.")
(Oh, and there's the great moment in Bloom County where, after they learn they're being cancelled, the characters start looking for other jobs and have a final party to say goodbye to each other. Binkley spends several panels shaking hands with someone who appears to be wearing a snake costume - or rather, the snake costume seems to have swallowed him, since just his feet are sticking out. Finally, Binkley asks, "To whom am I addressing?" "It's me, Milo. I'm appearing Tuesdays in The Far Side.")

The giant wall-size edition of "Early Microscopes" at the DeYoung exhibition always cracked me up, too.
