This week's Resolution Recipe: Gorgonzola Butter.
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
3 Tbsp Gorgonzola, at room temperature. Trader Joe's crumbled Gorgonzola is perfect for this.
Cream the butter with the cheese. Form into a cylinder, wrap in waxed paper, and chill.
What worked: This took less than ten seconds to make. Oh, and it tasted fine on grilled sirloin tips. It might be a nice base in which to scramble eggs.
What didn't: I prefer a heartier Gorgonzola flavor -- I'm fine with just throwing the Gorg itself on my steak. Or using a heartier blue, such as TJ's cave-aged Gorg which is quite nice. The wife is less enamored of blueness, however, and cutting it with butter was a good flavor compromise.
Will I make it again? Not any time soon. We used two slices of the cylinder and it'll keep in the freezer for quite a while.
