Beat L.A.! Beat L.A.!
Sep. 18th, 2003 08:50 amThe baseball fan rears his ugly head...
Went to the SF Giants game last night with a business contact. Free dinner (it was OK, but not worth $200 for three people, and we didn't even have a bottle of wine!) and club-level seats just below the broadcast booth behind home plate. Due to dinner we didn't make it to our seats until the bottom of the 2nd inning. That's okay; we only missed the Padres scoring some runs.
Perfect night: 70 degrees. The Giants won, 8-3. I took off work today so that I didn't have to worry about staying at the park until 10:30 PM.
And the Dodgers lost, meaning the Giants clinched the division title!
As I've noted earlier, I'm not a huge sports fan. Baseball, though, does it for me. And as a lifelong Giants fan I have a deep, abiding, and visceral hatred for the Dodgers. (In a kind of friendly way.) So standing in the park as the scoreboard showed the 9th inning in L.A., with Arizona winning... that was sweet. Not as sweet as the World Series game I attended last year (where they won in the bottom of the 8th) but hopefully this season will have a better ending.
Okay. Got that out of my system; I promise not to constantly post regarding the Giants. Unless they win the Series, of course. 8)
