Non-Resolution Recipe

Cinnamon Walnuts
2 cups walnut halves
3/4 cup sugar
grated peel of 1 orange
1/2 tsp cinnamon or true cinnamon
1/3 cup water
Combine orange peel, sugar, cinnamon, and water in a deep saucepan. Bring to a boil, whisking gently. Add walnuts and reduce heat to medium; simmer. Stir with a wooden spoon while the water evaporates. When nuts are fully coated and the liquid is gone, spread walnuts on a cookie sheet to cool and crisp up. Can be stored for up to two weeks.
I like using true cinnamon here as it adds a nice floral note. These are, IMHO, far superior to most commercial cinnamon walnuts!
