- Do not attempt a complex, multi-step recipe on a weeknight, especially when work has been extremely hectic and you are leaving late.
- Do not substitute different cuts of meat "because that's what they had". Different cuts do not cook identically.
- You do not know how to fold into liquids properly. A cake recipe that is only leavened by whipped eggs, when said whipped eggs are deflated by improper dry ingredient folding, becomes a brick. A tasty brick, but still a brick.
