madbaker: (Giants)

A broker just sent me an invitation to a Giants game. Specifically, a Saturday game.
In the bullpen box - which is a dugout in front of the front row between home plate and first base.

Against the Dodgers.

I let a full minute elapse so I could check my calendar before I confirmed.

Why? You go to far more games (in more parks) than I get to.

It's more about the seats, this...we're usually in the cheapies!

You actually checked your calendar? I'm impressed.

I had to turn this down last year because I was already booked for an SCA event. This year it's an event I can skip.

How does your company manage the "no gifts more than $25" stuff?

Sporting events aren't considered gifts. If they were, the rest of the cow-orkers would never be able to play golf with brokers. And then there would be an ugly, ugly revolt.

I presume the fact that you have to go with the broker keeps it from being a gift. Some people would probably use the word "punishment", in fact.

Interesting use of "what is doing business" and what isn't. Not criticizing, mind, just pholosophizing about schmoozing opportunities...

Thanks, by the way. (oops!)

I'd vomit from the excitement.

I'm in the wrong business

I have always* wanted to sit there! I hope it's a great game in all the ways the game can be great.

*Well, since I became a baseball fan in the late '80s, anyway.

Speaking of, we should look at the day game schedule.
