Cow-orker: "Otherwise you end up feeling like a 13th century English peasant."
Me: (forcibly stops self from discussing what a 13th century English peasant's diet would likely contain)
Me: "Yeah, I guess."

Now there's one of the differences between you/your-workplace and me/my-workplace. My co-workers would wait two beats and then say, "So ... aren't you going to tell us what a 13th century English peasant would really eat?" (I took in leftover Byzantine lentils from the Collegium dinner for a work potluck. I think the response was evenly divided between "good" and "interesting".)
