Cow-orker: "Otherwise you end up feeling like a 13th century English peasant."
Me: (forcibly stops self from discussing what a 13th century English peasant's diet would likely contain)
Me: "Yeah, I guess."

At my former workplace I thought I fit in fairly well, at least overtly. Then my supervisor asked me to please "dumb down" my vocabulary. She went on to say that although my vocabulary was well received by the PhDs in the building, the rest of the occupants (herself included) were having to struggle to understand what I was saying...
