The alarm went off as usual at 4 AM; I hit the off button. Then I fell back asleep, with my hand still stretched out on the alarm.

I decided to call in sick today. I've been feeling run-down - which is one reason why I haven't posted much lately.

What I'm reading: John Scalzi, Ghost Brigades

Bummer. Hope you feel better soon. I did almost the same thing today--when I hit the snooze button I somehow also managed flip the switch that put the clock into "time set" mode, so it thought it was 7:30 for the next, oh, 3 hours!! while I snoozed happily away... Oops. Still, I did manage to haul myself into work today anyway--getting dressed and ready took no time because by the time I finally woke up all the water in our building was turned off for pipe repairs, so I got no shower. Ugg. Maybe I should've just stayed in bed....

I, too, hope you feel better.

How is Ghost Brigades? So far I've only read Scalzi's Agent to the Stars (for fiction; I've read a ton of his weird essays). I worked with him when I was project manager on some of the Uncle John's Bathroom Reader books; we bought a huge number of his essays for our special editions. He's a very spiffy and fun writer.

I liked it, but it makes more sense if you've already read Old Man's War.

Guess you were still set to OFF. (snerk)

I hope you had a nice relaxing day off. I wish I'd had the sense to do the same thing.
