The wife put up some blackout material in the bedroom curtains yesterday, and also tacked it up on the glass-paned door. It was like sleeping in a cave. I'm still feeling tired today, but hopefully this will help me sleep more soundly, since it's still light when I go to bed right now.

The Giants game was pretty good yesterday. Schmidt was not great - he only gave up one run, but he threw a lot of pitches over only six innings, struck out only three, threw two wild pitches and a couple others that could have been, and hit a batter. But the Giants won, sweeping the Rangers. And it was with a broker in a luxury box. Granted, almost all the way over on the left field side, so not the best luxury box, but still free. And it was a good day to be at the ballpark instead of spending the whole day at work.

I put black lining in the kids' room curtains a few years ago. They have lights-out at 8pm, and get up at 6am, so it's essential if I want them to sleep. I'm sure you'll get used to it in a few days, and it will help with the getting to sleep.

Now, waking up may be a different matter, if you're used to light cues to help you swim up from sleep. Waking up may seem more brutal.

You can get one of those alarm clocks that produces a gradually increasing light. I have a friend who swears by hers.

During the week it'll never matter, since the sun isn't up when my alarm goes off.
We'll see how I feel this weekend.

I bet that in the long run this curtain will definitely help. In Alaska a lot of folk have double and triple thick curtains for exactly this reason (well, that and in winter it helps in the way of insulation ...).

I hadn't thought of you as a cave man before. [giggle]
