TV time, post-mortem.

The five-minute cable TV interview went fine. I've done better; I've also done worse. People at work seem to think I did a good job, so I'll take that.

The most stupid part of the interview, however, was when the host asked my opinion on a chart that they threw onto the screen. She didn't say what the chart referenced. Um? I was sitting in a dark studio, with attached earbug, staring into the camera. They don't show you the monitor (because then you'd get distracted watching yourself).

I had a very brief urge to reply "Tell me what the chart is and I'll comment. Jane, you ignorant slut." Instead I faked it - I blathered briefly about breakeven inflation rates or something along those lines. I have no idea if it related to the chart at all.

It's amazing these folk have no clue what their own technology is, isn't it? I agree that I would most likely have said something along the lines of what you suggested.

Perhaps next time you could tell the host to click on the "Paper clip" or the "Little Dog" to bring up the chart on your end (assuming the host is in a different studio and can't see you).

About a year ago, I told a director/manager to do that while he was trying to get a Powerpoint slideshow working. They love it when you do that, especially if they're the IT Director. Or, a Television Host.

I am most envious of your financial genius. Normally I'm pretty clever, and can make sense of most complicated concepts, but when people talk about money my brains turn to polenta. I lament the fact that due to my own stupidity in these matters I have not managed my money well and would no doubt have a lot more of the green stuff if I had even half a clue. ::sigh::

I tried to take Econ in college. I don't know what the heck I was thinkin'...I think my father talked me into it. After 2 weeks of not really understanding a thing the prof said I quietly dropped the class. Statistics was the same way....

Oh, break-even inflation rates are real; they're one of the sets of things I follow. But I don't know if they have anything to do with the chart in question...
