In New York again...
Oct. 17th, 2006 01:39 amIn the Waldorf this time. Definitely old architecture, of course; 12 foot ceilings in the rooms, although the rooms are small and my view is the set of rooms across the way. Nice art deco elevators and a mail slot built into the door.
The flight was unexceptional, which is good. I used my frequent flier miles to upgrade to first class so I actually got food and legroom... I was one of the first off the plane, which in the cosmic karma scheme of things meant that I got my luggage nearly last. Oh well.
Dinner at the hotel steakhouse; quite good. Not as stodgy as some of the NY steakhouses I went to two weeks ago. I ended up chatting with the 75-year-old sitting next to me, which was more entertaining than I might have thought.
I realized that I forgot to pack my deodorant. I should be able to find a drugstore nearby (I wouldn't necessarily bet that the Waldorf has anything as downscale as deodorant...)
To bed soon, I think. I miss the wife and cat.
What I'm reading: Kage Baker, Machine's Child
